SHOT Show 2015 Preview: Media Day

Small Arms Review's very own Chris Choat is at SHOT Show 2015 this week in Las Vegas, Nevada! Every day Chris will be updating us all on the interesting products he runs into at the show.

Media Day at the Range kicked of the 2015 SHOT Show by allowing media a special advanced preview of products presented by some existing companies as well as some “new kids in town”. SAR was there covering the Media Day in search of some of the latest new firearms and accessories. Here are just a few of what this author found

Delta P Design was on hand showing off their newest line of suppressors called the Brevis II. The new suppressors are be introduced in 5.56, 7.62 and 6.5 calibers and are some of the smallest and lightest around. IWI USA brought out their new arrived in country Galil Ace pistols and rifles along with a truck full ammunition to let everyone get a chance to experience these new guns special features and utter reliability. Also available for testing were their gunn UZI® Pro Pistols and the Jerico 941 pistol. The Galil will be available in both rifle and pistol versions as well a pistol model with a stabilizing brace. Otis the folks long known for their innovative cleaning products have a great new product that will make shooters lives much easier but doesn’t involve firearms cleaning. Standard Manufacturing LLC, introduced their new DP-12 shotgun this year at Media Day. The gun was shown last year in prototype stage but this year they had working guns to try out. The DP-12 is a side by side double barrel pump tactical shotgun. It is bottom loading and bottom ejecting. Other features include a capacity of 16 rounds, inline shell feeding and shock absorbing spring loaded recoil pad. The gun has two barrels that are firing alternately by a single trigger. It is a bullpup design for quick handling and the barrels are threaded to accept choke tubes, door benchers and other accessories. All the details can be found at www.standardmfgllc.com.

SilencerCo had their new Salvo 12 shotgun suppressor at the range for medai Day. The modular suppressor has be length customized for the optimum operational requirement. These were actually introduced a couple of months ago but they really have not been available for hands on testing. The suppressors are extremely quiet and reduce recoil by a great amount. Sightmark has introduced several new models to their already long list of optics. These new models show clearer glass and more rugged construction that previous models. CMMG has just introduced a new 7.62 X 39 AR-15 platform gun. The rifle is called the Mk-47 MUTANT. The Mutant weighs in at just under 7 pounds and accepts all standard AK magazines. The rifle has a quad rail Keymod forearm with free floating barrel that produces outstanding accuracy.
