Just when you think that there can’t be anything new done to make the AR-15 series upper receivers any better along comes a very interested concept from a company called Cobalt Kinetics. They have AR type guns with an upper receiver that appears to have 2 forward assist buttons, one on either side. This is called their DD (Dual Drop) multi-functional, rear actuated bolt release. This left hand side forward assist button drops the bolt from its held-open position just like the standard bolt release does. When you first see it looks rather strange but as you grab the grip it is in the perfect position for your strong hand thumb to activate. This new device is incorporated into their billet upper that mates to their billet lower that offers a host of other great features. They are making complete rifles have feature a long list of innovative features. Watch the pages of SAR for a complete review in months to come. Look them up at www.colbaltarms.com.
